We have a city full of expressive youth. Finding mediocre events bore our growing population. We must find exciting and unique ways to gather them together safely and provide to them a space expression without harming each other.
Teens need safe spaces to grow
FROM JOON • Even though your adolescent may start to crave time away from you, the early adolescent years can be the perfect time to set a precedent of spending quality time together. For many adolescents, it’s important to continue doing some of the same activities with their parents that they did during childhood, to retain a sense of predictability and dependability during a time of massive change.
As the parent, you can begin to mix in new experiences that honor their
growing independence - let them make more choices during the activities;
follow their lead, and ask for their opinion more frequently. The most
important element is creating consistency that they can trust, and
sticking with it even if your adolescent expresses indifference.
